Ashwell Marriage
« on: Monday 29 July 13 04:16 BST (UK) »
I would like to confirm the details of a marriage in Ashwell which apparently occured on 25 aug 1794 between John Pilmore and Bridget Thorp.  They went on to have children in Teigh just down the road.

Many thanks in advance,
Louise
Desperately seeking:

From records I have I can confirm the ma on 25/8/1794 in Ashwell. Both are given as otp although I cant find either of their bps anywhere in Rutland.  The marriage was by Banns.

I have found one child Valentine s/o John/Bridget bp 12/12/1818 in Teigh/

I also found a bu of Wortley Pilmore (no parents given) 1/12/1818 aged 7 also in Teigh.
Unless there were others born elsewhere they seem to have waited a long time after their marriage for children.

Found a bu of John Pilmore 22/12/1839 aged 74 also in Teigh - could be your John.

Hope this helps.

Sorry the date for the bp of Valentine in my first post is incorrect, it should read 12/12/1813.

THANK YOU - so much for this information - I had been wondering where they were married (indeed I was wondering IF they had been married).
They actually had numerous children baptised in Teigh - starting with Lucy in 1794 and going on through to Valentine in 1813 - a total of 10.  Little Wortley was bapt 1811.

Now if I could just find where the devil John Pilmore originated!!

Thanks again!
Louise
