Can i ask again on some help with the name Sartain.Can find nothing on Elizabeth Sartain  (or her family members) who married Alexander Stevens in 1863.i wondered if they had come over from France at some time.
Thank you to everyone who helped me with  Stevens/ Churchill.Have ordered more certificates for these.

Do you have the marriage details?

25th December 1863 at Walworth St Peter, Southwark
Alexander Stevens, age 23, Bachelor, Bricklayer, St Peter Street
Elizabeth Sartain, 18, Spinster, St Peter Street

His father: Henry Stevens (Deceased), Carpenter
Her father: James Sartain, Commercial Clerk

Alexander signed his name; Elizabeth made her mark.

Witnesses: William Rowland and Emily Stevens



On the 1861 census (Class: RG 9; Piece: 228; Folio: 57; Page: 7) she is a 16 year old servant.
Born Walworth, Surrey
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I have that but have been trying to trace back,birth and parents siblins. may be death if i cant find any info.

Betsey's age is uncertain, because it's a bit of a scribble!! ::)

Just had a quik look at my paper work if Betsy was 10 in 1851 would make her older than 18 in 1863.

Like I said - her age is uncertain, because of scribble and enumerator's marks!

Could be 10, 8 or 6?! ::) ;D

Makes her 8 unless she was a twin which i dont think so somehow,Thanks again for this.
