Hi
this is quite a puzzle considering how good the pic is, how much you know about him, and how distinctive his name is.
The picture shows him with spurs and riding crop, so some involvement with horses..
The Army Veterinary Corps entry from the medal rolls has been investigated by Jim and discounted, the badge doesn't look like a Royal Horse Artillery badge - there are several other Joseph Haines on the medal rolls from this regiment.
..This is just an idea, but how about ordering the birth certificates of one/both of his daughters born during the later stages of the war. They may have his regiment under 'fathers occupation'.

The RAMC badge does have a snake in the centre but it is oval shape and not round like this one (and would have a scroll underneath).

It does look like Army Veterinary Corps doesn't it?  Just a suggestion here: Perhaps he doesn't have a medal card because he never went overseas - and the medals he had were not his but a brother or friend?? That would explain how he managed to father children throughout the war.

Or this is not a photo of Joseph but someone else?

It is not RAMC. The badge in the photo is too big (RAMC badge was smaller) and it is the wrong shape.  Badge in photo is round. RAMC is oval. RAMC badge has a scroll underneath. The one in the photo does not.

We see quite a few RAMC badges on here and they are quite easy to recognise.

See posts 10 and 12 - Ady linked to Army Veterinary Corps badge photo and also said that it changed after WW1.  But in WW1 it was a round laurel with intertwined letters AVC.
http://www.heartsanddaggers.co.uk/WW1%20Army%20Veterinary%20Corps%20Officers%20Cap%20Badge.html
or more like here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Army-Veterinary-Corps-WW1-100-GENUINE-British-Military-Cap-Badge-/290969336480

What we are looking for is a round badge with a crown on top of what is probably laurels and a motif in the middle. If not AVC then something very similar.

The Joseph Haines medal card I gave isn't him I'm afraid.
I found his pension record & he was 34 when he enlisted in 1914 & gives his address as Worcester.

Hi Jim

I had another look and I think the address is Carcroft, Doncaster on those pension records (although it does look like Worcester at first) - so even less of a link with the Joseph Haines of Worcestershire

To be absolutely positive about his Regt. you will need to see the 1918 Absentee Voter's List for Warwick.
