1871 census, whole family disappear apart from father.
« on: Friday 09 August 13 21:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,please can anyone help me with this one ?  I have in the 1861 census the Groves family.
 Matthew- Head 29 born Windsor.
Mary Ann-Wife 34 born Cannock Staffs.
Thomas-son 8 born Framlington Staffs.
Elizabeth-Daughter 6 born Ardwick Manchester.
Peter-son 3 born Eton.
Frederick-son 1 born Eton.

They are present in the 1881census,with two more sons Robert and Phillip.

I can find Matthew in the 1871 census in Windsor, but he is alone. i cant find any of the rest of the family at all ! Nor can I find birth records for any of the children except Peter, Thomas and Frederick.
Grateful for any ideas.Thanks.

I do   find   some of the transcriptions  on Ancestry  amusing ,    as  in the Groves case , they   have a Frederick  Graves  aged 24 as  FATHER  to Thomas H Groves aged 18 !!
