If you know the name of the church where the marriage took place - it can probably be looked up in parish records either at the church or at the records office

If you don't know the name of the church - then you would have to buy a copy of the cert.

Do you know where and when Benjamin died?  His death reg will give his age and if he died after 1969 - his full birthdate.  This may help find a birth for him

Hi,

It would appear that Benjamin, Bertha and family are recorded on a Passengers List to Canada on 20 Sep 1929. Benjamin's age is given as 32 therefore born c.1897 - possible birth record

Benjamin Howell Huxley
q4 1896, Newcastle under Lyne, Staffs
Vol 6b Page 63

Marriage record shows Benjamin H Huxley

The above Benjamin on the 1901 is living with his Grandfather  ???

You best option would be to purchase the Marriage Cert.

JJ

Added - death of Dennis Howell Huxley (son of Benjamin and Bertha) -

It is a possibility that Benjamin may be illegit -no proof but it is not unusual for an illegit child to be given his father's fore or surname as a middle name

Benjamin has the middle initial H
There is the birth reg wich has been posted by Jjen

Also the ship which departed for Quebec Canada on 20 Sept 1929  passenger list  reads
Benjamin Huxley 32 farming
Bertha Huxley 30
John Huxley 8
Benjamin Huxley 5
Dennis Huxley 1
address 10 Hillside Ave Llanharan Glamorgan
Permanent address to be Canada

Family search has a death reg
British Columbia death regs 1872-1986
Ben James (I think this is a mistranscription of Benjamin) Huxley
spouse Bertha Jacobson
child Dennis Howell Huxley (the howelll name again)
other Madeline Faber

so it seems a strong possibility Benjamin is the one found (with middle name Howell)

You need marriage cert - but father's name may be left blank if he was illegit -but witnesses sometimes are family members and can give further "clues"

I cannot find a baptism record for Benjamin

Birth certificate may be the best bet - if you are convinced Benjamin Howell Huxley is the person you seek information on

thank you everyone for some great information. i have benjamin's birth certificate and the fathers name is blank, mothers name was elizabeth huxley. there was a benjamin howell that was a witness at sarah alice huxley (elizabeth's sister) and william robert reeves wedding in 1896. sarah and william went to canada aswell in 1930 and returned in 1938. i think i need to look at births for a benjamin howell around the newcastle under lyme area. thank you again
