Thanks Peter, a good find, it looks very interesting, I have saved it and will check through it later offline.  Being in gedcom format it will take longer to read but I'm hoping I will stumble on a way to view it easier, possibly through Brother's Keeper my family tree program.

Thanks for that Peter, quite a coincedence really, I made a note to check out Steeple Bumpstead the other day.  I have noted a few ancestor family names at Steeple Bumpstead in the IGI and thought out of curiosity and given time I'd check out the PRs.  So now I think I'll make it a "must do"
Regards

Hi Findem... I guess you are on your pilgrimage to Essex but I figure you will manage to log onto RootsChat somewhere along the way... I found something that may connect to your Smith line in Great Leighs... hope it has something. There is a contact email address of the poster. Enjoy your trip.
Cheers, Peter.

Hi Peter,
I'm up in Scotland at the moment and on a friends computer, haven't got my genealogy stuff with me so can't check the Smith out.  I did spot the Abraham Smith and Mary Bowtell marriage and I believe I recorded it.  I'll get back to you about the Smiths after November 6th when I'm home.
I found "the" Ann Saward I was looking for at Thaxted, there were three altogether but only one fitted the bill perfectly.

Hi Findem, great to hear about Ann Saward... Scotland is beautiful, at least it was when I was there in 1972. Enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope you managed to dig up loads of  stuff for your research. Have a safe trip home.

Peter.

I am starting to research my familys history(Saward).I am directly descended from the branch of the family centred on South hanningfield. So far I have verified connections to my great great grandad born in 1824. I would appreciate any help or advice

my name is ken saward,I would be happy to make contact with anyone researching my family name
Hi Peter,
Nice to hear from you.

I would be grateful for any Saward info you might come across.

As for the Smiths of Felsted (and Gt Leighs if you have any), let me know ancestor names and dates (approx or known).  I will check my info and see if I have anything to help you or if our Smiths link up.  My Smith line goes to 1798 in Felsted and then from 1809 is in Gt Leighs.  I also have a "Spares" database with quite a few Smiths in it, so give me some names etc and I'll have a look.

If you should be searching Felsted burials I would be grateful for any Ann Smith buried after 1775 especially any info attached to the burial entry.

By the way I will be over in Essex in October and of course will visit the ERO! I intend to do some more work on Smith and Saward.

No doubt by now you have found Felsted a great breeding ground for Smiths, talk about coming out of the woodwork! especially William Smiths.

Regards.
