Trying to identify a grandmother
« on: Friday 16 August 13 09:14 BST (UK) »
I have a photo of a young lady supposed to be Emma Mixter nee Brown born 1852. Photo taken in Ipswich by H Walters.  Emma married Joseph Mixter in 1870 and died in 1877 after the birth of son Arthur.
A restore may date her clothing to see if I have the right person.
Otherwise I suspect she might be Eliza Brown (no relation) born White Notley 1841.
The second photo is not very clear and with a restore may be easier to see her dress. Photo undated and unnamed taken by G Brown & Sons, Deal
Many thanks in advance

Yes they're a bit of a strain on the eyes. However the 1st. is late 1860's & possibly as late as 1870.
The cardstock is later mid 1870's at the earliest. We'd need to see the back to be more accurate.
If it's who you think it is the original may have been taken just before her marriage & the copy shortly after her death.
Need to see a better scan of the 2nd. + the back.

New scans which might be easier now I have the right resolution plus the back.

2nd possible grandmother. I thought this was about 1860. Having gone through this process will make sure I identify my photos for those in the future.

An enhancement on both photos might help identify the frocks for dating .

Thanks
