Hi whburt

There are more than one possibility for an Andrew Wallace born in the 1820s in Lanarkshire. What other info do you have on Andrew that has led to your interest in him?

Monica  :)

Added: From an old post on A/try, he married a Susan Hutton, 1852 in Halifax - 7 children.

Hi Monica;

Have information on him here in Nova Scotia after he got married in 1852 to Susan Hutton, he worked as a gardner in Halifax until his death in 1869, they had 7 children.  Unfortunately the only information we have on him from Scotland is the obit.  which shows he probably had relatives living in 1869 in Glasgow and New York at that time.  No idea why, how or when in arrived in Nova Scotia, his marriage Banns were co-signed by a former Drum Major of the 37th Regiment of the Foot (John Mccartney) here in Halifax which may or may not reflect a military connection.

Wayne, the reason we diverted to children's names for Andrew and Susan is to check what if any possible family names could have been used which very often give clues on grandparents' names. This is often referred to as Scottish naming pattern (although the Irish like to do the same too). Numerous links for this online, this is one I like www.halmyre.abel.co.uk/Family/naming.htm

Susan was born in Nova Scotia from what I saw so this might make this a bit tricky in this respect.
