The Rev. John Power of Thurleigh needs to find his wife
« on: Saturday 24 August 13 17:48 BST (UK) »
Hi,

My 8th Great Grandfather the Rev. John Power, b. abt 1638, d. 1705, Thurleigh, Bedfordshire is feeling lonely and needs a wife!

Seriously! I have been unable to trace who he married. I also suspect that he married twice.

The details I have are that he may have married abt 1663 in Thurleigh.

I have traced 7 children through Familysearch Christenings:

Susanne Power 1664, Thurleigh. m. 1686, Joseph Bassett

Rev. John Power b. 1665, Thurleigh, d. 1731, Thurleigh

Ann Power b. 1666,Thurleigh

Mary Power , b. 1667, Thurleigh

Thomas Power b. Aug 1670, Thurleigh, d. Aug 1670, Thurleigh

Ann Power b. abt 1671-1672, Thurleigh,

Richard Power b. 1674, Thurleigh

He was the Vicar of St. Peter's Church - Thurleigh from 1665 - 1705 and his son John took over the "job" and was the Vicar from 1705 until 1731.

I would be grateful to get some clues to his marriage/s and also descendants.

Regards,

Alastair Honeybun

He could have married in Sharnbrook  :-\

Marriages normally took place in the parish of the bride.

The Sharnbrook parish records transcript confirms the marriage Rosie found on the IGI but there is no further details. There was only one other Power name in the Sharnbrook PRs and that is marriage of Alice Powers to Thomas Brett on 14 Nov 1664

The children baptised at Thurleigh are listed as son/daughter of Jn Power, vicar or Mr J Power. He is buried on 28 Oct 1705, vicar of this parish and on 1 Sept 1706 is buried Mrs Ann Power, widow
