I agree that family does not fit on at all on several levels.
we wanted a baptism record to prove family notes
or census or a ship/emigration  record to Australia before Sep 1857.
I found a Wm on Castilian in '57 but with Robert & Hannah and these names do not feature at all in his Australian family. We have all details of family after his marriage.
It is about  his English origins we are stuck.
Thanx

The informations as passed down  from 2 separate family branches, but Whitehaven Fhl couldn't find a Norris family in COE records we are now tending to the possibility of RC bap.

I originally put his birthdate as 1834 but should have been 34/35 as this is calculated from a Sep 1872 marriage and death

Hi, I have researching the Norris family for some time now.  Requested information from a family history group in Whitehaven some years ago.  They come up with nothing on William James Norris born 1835.  Nor could they come up with any information on  a William Norris who was a shoemaker, or his wife Mary Conway.

My mum did tell me that William James changed his name from Robert to William.  Not sure if that is any help or not.

Does this marriage give information on his father

Yes the marriage certificate gives his father as William Norris, Shoemaker and mother Mary Conway.  Elizabeth Sarah Pearson's parents are William Pearson, Farmer and mother Sarah Box.

My maternal grandmother was his granddaughter.  I don't believe he was a Norris when he left England he just changed his name.
