Wright Buckinghamshire
« on: Tuesday 27 August 13 21:17 BST (UK) »
Anyone up for a challenge?

I am looking for info on a couple called John Wright and Phoebe Wright. They married and had about five children between 1727 and 1734. It appears they had the children in and around the village of Stoke Goldington.

Then my trail goes blank. I cant find when they married, or where. I can't find either of them on ancestry or family search. It seems sensible that they are local to north Bucks somewhere.

Any suggestions?

Mike

Not really......just enter John Wright(and variations of Wright), and brides christian name of Pheobe, and you will get all the marriages in their database for Buckinghamshire, from whatever year range you enter.

e.g..  John Wright.   from year 1693 to 1759.  to Pheobe.

You could ask from 1538 to 1901 if you wish.  But given the criteria you're asking for, you can narrow it down.  You can even ask, without using a brides name.

It will cost the same, whatever time scale you ask for.

I know, I have asked them many times.  For £1, it's a bargain. ;D

Mike

What about marriage of John Wright to Phoebe Lebrook at Stoke Goldington on 10 Oct 1726; OK it's a contributed entry I found on the IGI and should be verified; suggest you spend your £1 wisely & email the Bucks FHS for a look up. Alternatively nip to Milton Keynes ref library & look up the parish register transcripts

Ah John, you will never guess where i have been this very morning!!

This entry it seems is correct and taken directly from the parish records. i may have forgotten MK library has a huge collection of data!!!!

At present this looks like the right marriage. A little more digging and my ancestry line will be back to 1600's. then i might stop.

Did you find out anything else while you were there?

So you suspect their son Charles baptised 1731 is the one who married a Ruth and they had children baptised at Hardmead 1747 onwards. Have you found their marriage?

Not yet, not enough time to look, although they do appear as a couple on familysearch databases. A more pressing matter is i seem to have "lost" there son John. He is a vital figure but i cant find his birth anywhere, they (charles and Ann) have a son in 1797 called John who dies after 10 days. Somewhere i found a reference to them having another son they called John, and i have lost it and now cant find it again!!
