There we are - thank you again. The family seems to have been in Llannor, near Pwllheli, in 1851, at what I'd suspect to be the mother's home. Save for the two missing children, I'm willing to call it a day now. Can you still call a topic 'Completed' ?

One of the "missing" children is Benjamin J,seen at Morfa Cwta(sic) in 1891 at:

RG12  4661  122 4

Modified-Sorry,this is a mistake.He is the son of O J Owens.

Thank you - may I ask why do you think he is the son of OJ , rather than JG ?. It doesn't appear that OJ was ever a minister in South Wales. I forgot to mention (tangentially), that Owen Griffith Owen ('Alafon') whom you came across, was quite a well-known poet in the slate quarrying districts . (There was a ministerial preparation school in Clynnog, for people who had no formal education who felt they wanted to enter the ministry late. My grandfather was one who went there as well)

He is with his father in the 1901 census at RG13  5221  96   1(Talwrn Lodg,Esclusham Ahove)
He is given as born Penboyr,as is his mother.

Interesting - one would then speculate that OJ met his wife through his brother !.

OJ's wife Mary is the daughter of the Davies household(Pantyrhebog,Penboyr) where JG is found in the 1891 census. Can't find the "missing" children though.

I'm very grateful for all your work - not a particularly close family connection, but certainly more varied and interesting than most. I live in Aberystwyth, so I'll try and visit Ceredigion archives to see if they've got relevant vback issues of the ' T-S advertiser'

I had a look at the relevant obituary today at the Ceredigion archives. It refers to his family as being his widow, two brothers (one called William as well the Rev OJ ), and two married sons : R G Owen of Teifi Mill, and William Owen , a chemist of Newcastle Emlyn. I think its probably true that only 2 children were alive in 1911, and some sort of misunderstanding had arisen with the census.

I have tried to look for other children as nieces/nephews/grandchildren,but to no avail.I wonder if there really was a death, and,if so,whether this would provide any further clue. This could have been part of any error of course.
