interesting stuff on census return of 1911
« on: Tuesday 03 September 13 21:10 BST (UK) »
i found something wonderful on my great grandfathers census just wanted to share it - you know how they put how many children they had and how many died ???

Well , he got mixed up and filled it in wrong and included the children that had died with the ages and then crossed them out with a line !!

from that i was able to include the dec;d children which would not have been on that census otherwise with names ect and dates

I think there must have been a lot of fortuitous (for us) mistakes in that section of the 1911 Census. My GGGM (with the help of the Enumerator presumably as she could only make her mark) included three siblings of my GGM of whom no-one had any inkling. As a widow they needn't have been listed at all. Lucky old me! ;)

I had that one one of mine too, where they put the info of the children that had died then put a line through it.

I've also had one where they put the full address on the place of birth column.
