Aldridge family as millers
« on: Wednesday 04 September 13 23:35 BST (UK) »
My never-ending search for mills and millers continues.

Currently I'm looking for mill relating items to do with the Aldridge family.  I have them milling in plenty of villages:
Barnby, Adam (1864)
Barningham (????)
Bramfield, Adam (1872-92)
Cratfield, Walter (1916)
Huntingfield, Walter (1912-25)
Ilketshall St Andrew, John (1883-85)
Ilketshal St Lawrence, Alfred (1864-68)
Laxfield, Adam (1868)
Middleton, John (1888-92)
South Elmham St Martin, John (1896-1900)
Tannington, Philip (1855)
Walpole, John & Walter (1868-1910)

I'm not sure about dates they were at these mills, have no idea on who they married, so any help would be great.

If your an Aldridge and know of any other millers in the family, in Suffolk, then that would be brilliant!

Thanks,
Windy Miller

Hi Diddy & Trevor,

Thanks for the info, I'll need to cross-ref the marriages with where they were at the time, etc.  Very useful though, esp. if any of them marrisged into other milling families.

Interested in the ref. to W. Adridge in Chelmondston.  That a new one to me, as he is not in my list of millers at the site, but Chelmondston was a BIG milling business so he may have been an employee? Hum, interesting.

Thanks,
Windy

Phew thats a good list Windy :)

Philip ALDRICH age 62 buried 29 Oct 1855 Tannington

Philip ALDRICH of Framlingham married Anna SUTTON 1 Sep 1817 Tannington.

Looks like they lived in Framlingham initially - bpt several children there (familysearch.org)

There was a Philip ALDRIDGE bpt in Mellis 1795 but looks like he could have been buried there too,  18 Aug 1869 age 80

Suspect Anna was bpt 31 July 1789 Campsea Ash.  Parents John & Ann (Nee Harsant).
John SUTTON of Rendham married Ann HARSANT 9 May 1788 Earl Soham.
The name Harsant is used for one of Philip & Anna's children John Harsant ALDRICH bpt 1831 Framlingham.
John & Ann Sutton are buried in Tannington as is a Harsant Sutton.

No mention of milling in anything I found.
