Elstree School 1861
« on: Saturday 07 September 13 04:36 BST (UK) »
Would someone be able to help me figure out where in the 1861 Census I would find the enumeration of the "Elstree School".  I couldn't find it on Ancestry under the  'Elstree' District.  It was a private school run by the Sanderson family from 1869 on.
Thanks for your help.

Hi

Are we talking about Lancelot Sanderson (b1838Lancaster) / Elstree School ?

If so, In 1881 it was High Street Edgware Middx RG11 1360 12 p18

I can see no evidence of "Sanderson" in 1861/71, what is the source of your info for "1869" ?

[ NormaMac - what is the source of the info for Spire Hospital? ]     :'(

Aha!

Lancelot Sanderson (Anc=Landerson)
1871 Brockley Hill House (Same stretch of road about a mile away)

RG10 1326 43 p20
Lancelot Sanderson 33(maybe or 56) Principal of Elstree School, bLancaster
(and almost unreadable 28yo wife - Katherine Susan Oldfield ( m Warner 1864 Sep Newton A. 5b 257) ? )

Not the school . . . yet
