Hi folks,

         I am looking for help please if possible, I am working on my nieces late father's family tree, I have traced her great grandfather thanks to Rootschat members. He was Richard Cherrington and was born in Kandy, Ceylon, India born Abt 1873 and was part of a large family, his father was Richard Duncan Cherrington reported as a Jailer and also Jail Superintendent in Kandy, his mother was Elizabeth Kirkwood. It seems all the family were born in Kandy Ceylon India.

Richard joined the Gordon Highlanders in 1889 and his Brother Robert also joined either before or at the same time.

Unfortunately I don't have dates of birth for some but these are the names of his brothers and sisters their last known locations in brackets. : Edith ( Colombo ), Edward ( Colombo ), Ellen ( Australia ), George ( Australia ), Henrietta Mary ( Queensland Australia ) she married first Hugh Barn Mullholland and secondly Patrick Joseph O'Brien, John ( Colombo ), Maud ( Joined the Dublin Fusiliers ), Allice Elizabeth ( Died in 1905 on the Isle of Wight England ) , Robert ( The Gordon Highlanders ), Bridget Mary ( Ceylon ).

I am only interested at the moment with those who moved to Australia and they all possibly moved to Queensland ( Fingers Crossed ). I just hope that perhaps some descendants are looking at this or someone knows of the Cherringtons.

Are you able to comment further on the marriage of Henrietta to Patrick O'Brien?
There seems no evidence of it in Qld.
