“At the Circuit Court to day. before Mr Justice Real, Hugh Mulholland, on a charge of unlawfully wounding, was found not guilty, and discharged, the Judge remarking “You are an exceedingly fortunate man.”    Brisbane Courier, 18 April 1907

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/19499510

(No mention of Mulholland in my hardcopy cuttings from Bundaberg newspaper for that era, NOR in the 1906 or 1907 sections of the book “Bundaberg in Print, 110 years of News” published 2009 by the Bundaberg Printing Company.)

Cheers,  JM

Entering Hugh Mulholland into a search at the National Archives brings up a number of applications for inventions.

G'Day Friends,

boy the replies you have given me is astounding to say the least and again my heartfelt thanks for investigating all this for me I am dumbfounded, in case you are wonder why I am still up is I have earache through having cold and can't sleep.

Anyway, I wonder if Henrietta married in Ceylon to O'Brien and he may have been in the Forces there, she was only married to Mulholland for about a year, he seems to have been a nasty person and I hope he was not the cause of her death but who knows.

The poor children having to go to an Orphanage must have been a terrible experience for them especially in those days, but later on if I read it correctly he must have looked after them once he was straightened out, he certainly done some traveling during his life.

I notice one of his inventions to put buttons on to materials, wow he invented the needle and thread !! I wonder what it was.

Bundaberg looks a really nice place I had a taste of the famous Rum, we have relatives in Brisbane one lives in Elimbah and the other in Ferniehills, we were over five years ago and loved it the people were all nice to us, the only problem is the Snakes and Spiders I nearly bought it with a King Brown one day, I was standing still and our cousin noticed it passing over my feet, I think I aged about ten years that day.

I look at what we have over here compared to your beautiful wee Villages and Towns, Ok we have Castles but that's about it, Scotland is a poorer country compared to Australia we have never advanced like you have, Politicians to blame.

In case you are wondering who I am this is my website, it's not very good on layout but it does us here is the Link. skt.org.uk  we are Scottish Knights Templar hence the red Cross on my posts

Take care and thanks again.

Regards.

Archie.
