George Vesian Pic de Nogaret
« on: Friday 13 September 13 18:41 BST (UK) »
I was just browsing the addresses on 1901 census for Kenilworth Square ,Rathmines,Dublin on another topic however i came across this man and his name caught my curiosity,it may be of use to some military historians on roots chat or Co Offaly,i sometimes think that who ever transcribed the census return forms were having a laugh as they transcribed his name as Pickle de Nogaret and i've seen some hilarious ones before, however his name as of census return is
House no 214 Kenilworth Square,Rathmines,Dublin
George Vesian Pic  [de Nogaret] age 29 born Kings Co, single, a Lieut in the 4th Royal Irish West African Regiment [ Coyute de Nogaret ]
sister Maria Gertrude age 23 born Kings
sister Jessie Adelaide age 22 born Kings
would the name be Pick as on the early baptisms on family Search.

It's difficult to find anything about the family

National Archives shows there is a medal card for Captain George Vesian Pic of the North Staffordshire Regiment and he's living in London in 1936/38

thank you ShaunJ and Heywood as i said it was just out of curiosity as i could not find any thing on them after 1901 no births or marriages or 1911 census for them, just that the name was so strange but the fact they say they were born in ireland yet no record of them anywhere, yet Roots Chat proves again that if there is something to be found on an individual the searchers on here will always come up trumps.
