1861 & 1871 Census - CLARK - Stratford
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 17:28 BST (UK) »
Hello

May I have details for the following family please from the 1861 and 1871 census.

Robert CLARK born Feering  1832
Emma CLARK born Peckham (though I think registered in Witham)  1837
Emma CLARK born Stratford 1859/60
Ellen CLARK born Stratford 1866

I think they are likely to be in Stratford for the 1861 and either there or in West Ham for the 1871.  By 1881 they were in Manbey Road West Ham.

As a bonus I would like Mother in Law - Susan CANT - to be with them!

Many thanks

Thank you very much indeed.

Looks as though the enumerator was less than thorough in the 1871 when it came to places of birth!

Does the 1861 tell you if mother in law was widowed?

HELP NEEDED PLEASE - 1861 & 1871 Census - CLARK - Stratford
« Reply #4 on: Thursday 16 June 05 11:59 BST (UK) »
Hello

janetm has very kindly found the above census entries for us but we cannot see how they can be the same family - surely there are children on the 1871 who should have been present on the 1861?  We would welcome a second opinion to see if these two entries can be reconciled.  Janetm also searched for other "possibles" but without any joy.

We are stuck!!

Many thanks
