Given that the Barnett children are nieces at the home of a "Rowland" family in 1851,there is a marriage in 1836 at St David Liverpool between a Richard Barnett and a Maria Rowlands which could well be of interest.

If Richard's father is given and named as William this could tie in with the birth of their eldest daughter in 1837. I did try to work out Maria's surname by trying to find a marriage for Mary Rowland as her husband isn't listed on either the 1841 or 1851l census living with her and the only one that fitted was between a Robert Rowlands and Mary Griffiths in Llanaber in 1834.

Unfortunately neither Robert nor Maria's father are given on the record which you can see on Ancestry.Do you have three children born to Richard and Maria?

As far as deaths for Richard and Maria?Well being a Mariner Richard could have died literally almost anywhere. As for Maria the only possible death I can find in Wales is one in the St Asaph District of Denbighshire in 1851.

I hope this is your man William Barnett, it`s been quite interesting finding him, and there is a lot to see. The link as him being a ship owner is quite a good clue.

Pigot & Co.'s Directory of Ches, Cumb ..., 1828-29
Barmouth
Ship owners. William Barnett
Inns and Public houses. Cors Y Gedol (and posting house) William Barnett
Lodging Houses . William Barnett.

Misc: North Wales 1835 Barmouth:

Cors y Gedol Arms Inn (and posting house): William Barnett
Dinas-Mawddy & Mallwyd: Cross Foxes Post Master & Publican:
David Lloyd Barnett (letters from all parts arrive and are despatched every evening at half-past seven)
Seeing that your Richard has the middle name of Lloyd, I think this may be his father William.

And there is more. ;D

Barnett, William, Barmouth, Llanaber, Merioneth, Innkeeper  will, 1844.
http://hdl.handle.net/10107/248491

William also has a son named Richard, wife Mary, daughter Elizabeth, son David . These match names in 1841 census.
He has signed his own name which is nice to see.

I think this may be the right building, it would match the location form the 1841 census, the main road leading to sea .

Just Google Cors Y Gedol Barmouth and there are lots of photos.  Lots mention William Barnett as well.
There is even a postcard on Ebay.

Cheshire Marriage Licence Bonds and allegations (from Find My Past)

On the 16th April 1836 Richard Barnett of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster and Diocese of Cheshire, master mariner, swore before the authorities of his intention to marry Maria Rowlands of Liverpool in the Church of St David's, Parish of Liverpool.
