Hi Steve & Nigel,

The entry you have found Steve is a possible contender but I feel the earlier marriage in Hook Norton
is my best bet, especially as John Haynes mentions it as his birthplace in the 1851cr.

Nigel; if you can, could I please ask to see what baptisms there were for children of John & Mary in HN,
if its not too much trouble. This may help to eliminate the couple Steve found.

The IGI & FreeREG don't seem to cover Oxfordshire, so from my end its a little difficult.

Oh yes by the way other Haines or variant spellings during the period 1822 - 1849

There were the following parents having children baptised;

Oh I am on a role now..................

In the banns section of St Peters there is this;

1792 HAYNES David otp bach
        HARWOOD Mary otp spin                            Sept 16/23/30
        The marriage was FORBIDDEN by the mother of David HAYNES , he being a minor

Were these your John's parents - I reckon they were!!

Hello Nigel,

Keep on rolling -  please!!

What a story you have unfolded. John s/o David & Mary being bapt. in 1849 aged 53 ties in nicely
to the 1851 census  where he is aged 55.

The children's baptisms also fall into line from John & Mary's marriage in 1821

I'm sure that David & Mary are John's parents and also a very interesting entry in the Banns book.

Presumably  David & Mary married later at another church after he reaches 21. It could also be connected with the fact that John wasn't baptised
as an infant and may even had been born before the parents eventually married.

To get their burials is also a bonus.

I can't thank you enough.

No worries mate you are welcome.

I dont think I can produce much more for you as you say I reckon David married elsewhere as it is not in Hooky PR's nor is his nor Mary's burial.

Let me know If you want more

Cheers

Steve & Nigel,

How grateful I am to you both for all your help.

Obviously David had to await another 6 months to reach full age and to overcome
mums' "forbidden"

Another one off my list.

Thank you both.
