It is very easy to mistranscribe a handwritten 'u' as an 'n'.

Sorry my typo. It does say Jean not Elizabeth. I've came off a 12 hour shift 3 hours ago and am about to go back in an hour. Brain's stopped working  ::)

May I please vote Ted's (above) post as the best so far this year from any RChatter on any board

Cheers, JM

I don't have many details on Arthur's family, as he is my great great grand Uncle, and therefore only distantly related. I am really more interested in his wife, Jean.

I am going to purchase the transcription as soon as I am able to.

Transcription of marriage cert is OK.

Jean died in 1995 so....

Death Certificates in SA are only available to the current spouse, the parents, the children and legal custodians. If a death registration over 25 years, any person may apply.

You could purchase Arthur's death certificate however it will only detail the number of chn, if any but no names.

More than likely back to SA and no rolls online.  I do have a couple with limited coverage.

Well that was inconvenient of them. I knew there was a reason I hate researching SA.

Good luck everyone. Got to go and feed people again. Will be back at about 8.30.

Cando, do you know when the electoral rolls were published each year? I just noticed that record is in 1937, which is the same year they were married. They married in May, so I would guess it was later in the year.

Seems like this was therefore their first stop after they were married. Unfortunately NSW don't let you look up any births in the last 100 years.. Any ideas where I could go to see if they did ever have any children??

Ash, the rolls were not published on a particular day of any year.   They were updated regularly, but only sent to the printers for publishing when an election had been called, and the rolls closed AFTER that, specifically for the purpose of having them printed for the Returning Officers and their clerks on polling day.
