Martin and Short family info

Hi all

My Dads side of the family are from scotland with the surname Martin, i have been able to establish my dad was George James Wittingham Martin born in 1946 in Scotland from James and Mae Martin nee Whittingham.  On my moms side her father was Leslie William Short from scotland and mother louisa Bothney Von Kerken. Her grandfather was a Robert Galbraith Short from Scotland and St Helena.  Our family has been very fragmented and i am trying to put the pieces back together.  If anybody could help thanks.

Do you know which part of Scotland they came from??

My Dad "George James Whittingham Martin" apparently came from Motherwell and my Granddad "James Jack Martin" came from Glasgow.  On the Short family side mainly Glasgow although from my great grandfather "Robert Galbraith Short" born in scotland ended up in St Helena.  Hope that helps.
