Ann married Thomas Mansfield in 1827 she was a widow previously married to someone with the surname Lincoln, her maiden name unknown, so the above wouldn't be her, she was deceased by 1841,  but may be her son from previous marriage. Will try and find a baptism.

The trouble is working out William above place of birth in the 1861 census, it looks like motend on the image, but of course no place exists.

I found his baptism in 1807 moreton, Essex and what a detailed parish register that is, parents are William and Anne, so could be the Ann who married my ancestor. Her maiden name was Clark. So now I need to try and see if they are still having children after 1827 as that would rule this couple out.

That's possibly what he said to the enumerator with his Essex accent so she wrote Moten  I did have a quick look through the records (incl Moreton which is extensive) only ones I fould were 3 deaths in st james hadleigh Thomas lincol ages 6mth 17/10/1819 Susannah Lincoln of prittlewell canvey aged 2 years 6 mth june 12 1831 buried st james hadleigh and William Lincoln aged 50 buried nov 17th 1834? at hadleigh

I found an Ann Cark daughter of William and Elezabeth Clark he is a dealer living with the family in 1871 in arivate house next to the nags head ph they have living with them aunt Letitia marrable aged 80  on a tree I have seen There is in moreton ,an Ann Clark daughter of Joseph Clark and Susannah Marrable  baptised in moreton 1st may 1824 lots of names to help .One of the ann clark born 1825 married a George Knight in 1847

Ann would of been born about 1775, so this won't be here.

Ahhh thanks, I suppose the dilemma is trying to prove whether this is the Ann I am looking for and what her maiden name is, if it isn't the William linkon/Lincoln and Anne Clarke. The use of an A is making me think that couple isn't the Ann I am looking for and I can't find a burial for her as Mansfield to work out her approx age.
