Philip and Sarah Ann Hill
« on: Thursday 26 September 13 08:52 BST (UK) »
Trying to find details of Philip and Sarah Ann Anns birth.  All I can find of Sarah is she was born circa 1820 possibly nee Entwistle in Manchester area.  Of Philip I can find no birth record. Can anyone look up this for me please.  I'm finding it harder to trace the female line of my family and find my gran's old tales dont match up to reality! Who were their parents, I believe they may have settled in the Tyldsley area of Lancs.

There is a Phillip Hall and Sarah Ann Eastwood marrying in 1850 in Manchester? Do you have Phillip and Sarah in a census to give us more details, POB, Occ, YOB, etc?

I can find them in the 1841 census with daughter Charlotte who I believe may be my gggrandmother.  There are two philip Hill in 1851 census but this may be son as a sister is living with him  They both seemed to be book-keepers.  I believe that Sarah may have left Philip at some point (according to gran again). Charlotte married William Wallwork and I can find her ok but her moter and fathers history is proving difficult. Am doing this to stay occupied having recently recovered from heart probs, but it is getting frustrating if interesting.  Grateful for any info regarding these two elusive people

There is a birth for Martha Hill Free BMD 1841 and a death March quarter 1844. Perhaps she was baptised because of illness  :-\
If you think this family is correct, Martha's birth certificate will confirm her mother's name.
Sarah Ann Barber does look vey possible.
In 1861 Sarah Ann still says she is married and Elizabeth Entwistle widowed daughter  is with her.
No sign of Philip, book keeper in 1851 and 1861  :-\

There is a Sarah Ann Barber d/o James & Elizabeth bap Cathedral Manchester 21 Dec 1806 and then an Elizabeth Hill, age 12 on the 1841 census with a James Barber 70, Elizabeth Barber 41 & Mary Barber 30. This is possibly Sarah Ann's father & sisters.
