I am looking for Mary Hannett (nee Sheppard??)
I have found a death notice for Maggie Sheppard 23 May 1959 and it lists her daughters - Minnie (Mrs Vanson) Euphemia (Mrs Ford) Agnes (Mrs Hartford) Isabell (Mrs Shanks) and Mary - Mrs Hannett
Maggie Sheppard was married before to William McJannet, he died and she remarried 1926 to Alfred Sheppard and we think this is Mary's father while the other girls were the daughters of the previous marriage.
Looking for Mary as she is my mum's cousin - think Mary was born about 1926
Any information greatly appreciated, regards Alison

Don't know if she is deceased - the 1959 notice is the only reference I have  ....... A

Sue - yes I have the death information of Maggie - her previous marriage was actually to her uncle!
She was actually born Maggie McJannet Crawford and then became Maggie McJannet McJannet when she married
Then 1926 she remarried and became Maggie McJannet Sheppardd
I was lucky enough to come across some legal documents which confirmed all this.
My interest is now in the daughters which most are deceased but nothing on Mary, this is the first clue I have received .............. A

William McJANNET's' 1920 death certificate will list issue of the marriage.  Mary is obviously not his child.  I can't see an electoral roll listing for a Mary HANNETT.  Perhaps Mary is a second given name.

It is interesting that only three children are mentioned in Wm McJANNETT's Letters of Admon, Will written in 1909 naming his niece who became his wife in 1913 [revoked], and Probate Grant.  Probate was granted 25 Aug 1920.  Isabella's year of birth was 1920 so possibly she was born after Wm's death.

Maggie married Alfred in 1931 1926 but is on the electoral roll as a SHEPPARD in 1927 but still at her home in 15 Abbotsford Street. So she has altered her surname but not her address.  She is with Alfred at his home in 62 Curzon Street. in 1931.  I note that a ?JamesSHEPPARD, carpenter was one of the creditors on Wm McJANNETT's statement of assets and liabilities on his probate file.

I agree with the thought that Isabella was born after William McJannet died

I was thinking whether there was anyway to find out who was living in the house at 15 Abbotsford Street, North Melbourne after Maggie died 1959. Also wondered if there is some way to find out if Maggie (Crawford, McJannet) Sheppard had a will - there might be clues in any documents

I had often wondered who buried Maggie 1959 as she was buried with Alfred and his first wife and infants at Fawkner - again looking for any clues to Mary

Alfred William James SHEPPARD's 1931 death certificate will list issue  of his marriage with Maggie.

You need to purchase the certificate to help you further.  Bear in mind that Mary may be either a second given name or evan a shortened form of Margaret etc.

Have corrected the marriage date. Do you think there is a possibility that Wm wasn't the father of the girls.  Not only was Wm Maggie's uncle but he was 36 years her senior. He names her as his sole beneficiary in 1909, marries her in 1913.  He was 72 years old when he died in 1920.  A marriage of convenience?
