I have now found the ancestry one. As nanny jan says it is just the banns. Others on the page has the date of marriage  in the margin. But reading of the banns in 1886 and marrying in1888.  I wonder what happened.

Emma Rose appears to be the daughter of Sarah Rose who marries Henry Gilson, in 1861 & 1871 their grandchildren Joseph Henry Charnley (1859) and Emma Charnley are living with them. There is a death for an Emma Charnley in 1859 in Clerkenwell. The next record is the baptism of Sophia Charnley Robinson, 28 Feb 1866, Clapton, d/o Joseph Henry Charnley (painter of 8 Praed St) & Sophia Robinson.

What date was the marriage in 1888? Son Joseph Henry Charnley born 10 Jul 1888! Maybe he couldn't get out of it this time? Wonder what happened to the Sophia's.? He seems to have abandoned the first two children by Emma Rose.

Where did you find the exact date of birth of Joseph Henry Charnley in 1888?
Only asking so that I might find more tools to use in this FH hobby (obsession according to my husband)

Joseph Henry Charnly s/o Joseph Henry & Sara Charnly, painter, 40 Princes Street, born 10 Jul 1888, baptised 17 Jul 1888, St John Wood, Westminster, as per London Births and Baptisms 1813 - 1906 on Ancestry. Hubby is right, it definitely becomes an obsession.

I have just stumbled across your posts re Joseph Henry Charnley born 1888. Are you still interested in finding out more info re him? His father also Joseph Henry Charnley (1858-1918) was my great great grandfather and I have info about him and his children by his first wife, Emma Rose (1833-1859).
