GRAY family from Ford, Northumberland
« on: Tuesday 01 October 13 00:08 BST (UK) »
Hi I am trying to research back beyond my maternal Great Great Grandfather,  Robert Gray, who was born in Ford, Northumberland in Dec 1845  -I have this birth reference: Glendale Vol25 page 267. Not sure what it means? Is it a page from a parish registry?

Robert married Eva Wakem (not sure what year) and he died in 1926 in Bournemouth, Hampshire.

I have the following information for Robert's parents but I am not sure if it's correct: How can I find out for sure?

William Gray born 1813 Ford, Northumberland / died 1889 Ford, Northumberland
married:
Jane Middlemiss born 1819 Branxston, Northumberland / died 1909 Ford, Northumberland

If these are indeed my Great, Great, Great Grandparents, where do I go from here?  Any help is much appreciated  :)    Sandy from Canada

Thank you so much Carole !  I will check freebmd for more info.  I find I keep hitting walls because Gray is such a common name. Perhaps I should concentrate on Middlemiss first.   Sandy   ;)

Hi

There isn't a marriage between a William Gray/Grey and a Jane Middlemiss so I would recommend you buy a copy of that 1845 birth cert which will give Jane's maiden name.  There is an 1844 marriage to a Jane Chapman and an earlier one to a Jane Potts

I've found this 1841 entry for Ford - surname is Middlemiss - the 1841 does not show relationships or exact birthplaces.  All born Northumberland except Margaret Hay

William   73 agric labourer
Margaret 68
Elizabeth   39 dressmaker
Jane  23 agric labourer
Margaret Hay 91
