William Kennedy millwright insolvency
« on: Tuesday 01 October 13 15:10 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find William Kennedy in 1841, he was not living with his family  in Scott St, and i suspect he was in Hull prison for insolvency, as listed in the London gazette a year later in 1842.  is it likely that he was  in prison all this time and is there a listing anywhere in the 1841 for the prison inmates on the census?

Have you seen the order of hearing of William's insolvency, 1 June 1842?  It's in the online catalogue of Hull History Centre, the Records of the Court for the Relief for Insolvent Debtors.
all the best

Postscript - Hull Prison records are also held by the Hull History Centre.

thank you,  I have found the 2 things in the London Gazette and managed to find the Hull Gaol in the 1841 census.  he was not listed.  I will have a look at your suggestion now.

Oh, good news - I've just found Hull Gaol, too, and was about to report back!  I found the governor, Robert Lundie, in a directory on Genuki in, I think, 1844.
