Hi Gailmarie,

Welcome to Rootschat. I'm sure many people are willing to help, but we need a little bit more detail from you.

Could you perhaps give us a few more clues? What year, place? Did they come to the UK, if so, where and when?

Yes I am new to Roots chat.....

They are from Bavaria Germany......

Eugene and his wife Caroline and daughter Anna Rosina arrived from Germany on the "Reihersteig" on the 5/8/1852. They did not come to the Upper Hunter at first, but settled at four mile creek near Lochinvar for some years., where Eugene was employed as a miner. According to shipping records Eugene was a vine dresser but other sources say he was a stone mason.   By 1874 the Nebauer family moved to Gungal where Eugene took up land which was called "Fairview" There they remained until his death in 1896 , growing grapes fruit and some crops. He was highly respected as witnessed  the largest funeral ever seen at the time. He was buried in the Old Roman Catholic Cemetery in Merriwa where the baths now stand. His widow Caroline died in 1904 and was buried with him.

They had 9 children....Anna Rosina, John Joseph, Cristian, Joseph, Charles, Frances, Eugene, Jacob and Elizabeth. I am a relative of Joseph.....

Eugenes parents were Joseph & Elizabeth Platz. Elizabeth came to Australia also. Joseph died in Germany before the family came to Australia
