thanks for all the ideas.  Grandmother definitely was in the U.S. by 1890 when she married in Michigan.  I have also checked Castle Gardens - no luck.

Just noticed your topic while doing a similar name search and had come across a marriage in Cork,Ireland for a Dominico Gasparovich in 1871 there does not seem to be any children born in Ireland unless there is a name change. Thought i would bring it to your attention in case related.
