Hi all,
Hope someone can help with this!
My 3x gt uncle George Phillips is missing on the 1871 Census, I cannot find him at all!
George was born in 1844 in Nutfield in Surrey to parents William & Sarah Phillips. He married Emma Gosden on 21st October 1866 in Croydon, Surrey. I cannot find Emma in 1871 or after either!
He is still in Nutfield on the 1851 & 1861 Censuses aged 7 & 17 respectively. In 1881 however he is a Bricklayer boarding alone with a family by the name of Driver in Feltwell, Norfolk (RG11/2010/83/13)
He apparently dies back in Croydon in 1890 aged 46. (June Qtr 1890, Croydon, Vol 2a Page 145)
Various family trees on Mundia have George's wife as an Emily born Hanworth, Middlesex in 1845. But I am not sure about this. There are 2 possible death records for one thing, An Emily age 76 in Croydon reg district in 1920 & an Emma age 84 in 1930 also in Croydon reg district.
I do not know where Emma was born although the marriage record on familysearch shows her as age 21, therefore born 1844/45, but hope that she & George are together in 1871 wherever they are!
I very much hope that someone can help me with this as I can't help feeling that the 1871 is key to sorting this out!
Apologies for the length of this, but wanted to avoid anyone doing any unnecessary research & therefore wasting valuable time. I have done as much research as I can before posting.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
David
