Thames Police Court 1875

Please has anyone any experience of finding information on court cases, or prison sentences at that time, where did they serve their sentence, how can I follow up a case.

Many thanks

I found my ancestors (3!) infamous pasts, including details of sentence,by entering their names on Find My Past's "Search British Newspapers."

That's where I found my ancestor, it was such a good find, but I can find the prison record, or any more about the case.
Thank you very much Everlea

You're welcome - sorry I can't be of more help. I can only suggest the National Archives.

                                                                                            Everlea.

The records are at LMA (not Kew), in series PS/TH. But as far as I know there is nothing before 1881. In any case, you would not normally find a transcript for a hearing at a police/magistrate's court. The court register will usually just record the date, name, offence and verdict. The best source in these circumstances is normally the newspapers, which I gather you already have.
