Would any one have access to the 1924 Rosthern area newspaper in Saskatchewan ?  I am searching for a John Gerlock who died 1924 , his wife was Elizabeth , He had two sons Jacob ,and John and a daughter , ( I am not sure of her name ) , They were Germans from Russia . who came to Canada in 1908 .

Hi Melanie
I just read the rest of your posts and am about to make your day.   I am the daughter of  Otto and Esther Gerlach.   Confusion I know.   My mom maiden name is Gerlock. Dad is Gerlach. So my dad and his family is Not related to uncle Art except by marriage.
Most of my Mom relatives use Gerlock but I do know some use Gerlach. To make matters more complex all of the birth certificates of the children seem to spell Gerlock different.
So if Art is your grandfather that makes you my cousin once removed. 
I am very sorry to hear about your Dad.  He was much older then majority of cousins and of course most of us live in Alberta so we lost track when he moved to States.  We did know he had married a woman with children.
So short story of family,  all were Germans but living in Russia,  laws changed and the village decided to homestead in Canada,  part came over in 1899(?). Part later.   Therese Trippel. Married Johann Gerlock in 1912.   I think one of her sisters married John gerlock's brother.   So I see part of the confusion there.
Grandpa went by both John and johann.   Grandma and Grandpa had 9 kids including Art.
Will wait to see if you see this post so we can talk further.
