Transportation
« on: Thursday 17 October 13 22:59 BST (UK) »
I have Josiah/Joseph Pettitt at Hertford Assizes 26th Feb 1851 accused of Night poaching three together.
They each get 7 years transportation.

However in 1856 he was married in Hitchin Hertfordshire.

So he must have got a pardon or a lesser sentence.

How can I find that out.

This was the period at which transportation was winding down. He was released from the hulks on licence, 29 May 1854.
