Can you help to tidy a photo for a memorial service?
« on: Wednesday 23 October 13 22:09 BST (UK) »
Last year I posted some very cracked photos of my grandparents and was amazed by the wonderful results when rootschat photo experts tidied them up for me. Now I hope you can help to tidy up their youngest son (Sydney Crackett 1918-1942) before we have a rather unusual memorial service for him. Syd died and was buried in 1942, but the War Graves Commission decided in their wisdom to put his headstone in a different cemetery to his body :) They have now agreed to reunite his memorial stone with his remains and our local council and his regiment are holding a small memorial ceremony. We would very much appreciate a clearer b/w picture of him and perhaps a colour version too. We think light-brown hair and blue-gray eyes.
Crackett, Cracket, Webb, Turner, Henderson, Murray, Carr, Stavers, Thornton, Oliver, Davis, Hall, Anderson, Atknin, Austin, Bainbridge, Beach, Bullman, Charlton, Chator, Corbett, Corsall, Coxon, Davis, Dinnin, Dow, Farside, Fitton, Garden, Geddes, Gowans, Harmsworth, Hedderweek, Heron, Hedley, Hunter, Ironside, Jameson, Johnson, Laidler, Leck, Mason, Miller, Milne, Nesbitt, Newton, Parkinson, Piery, Prudow, Reay, Reed, Read, Reid, Robinson, Ruddiman, Smith, Tait, Thompson, Watson, Wilson, Youn

Am I right in thinking he was with the Corps of Military Police?  I am wondering what colour his cap was as it doesn't look to be regulation khaki from that photo.

As I posted previously, unsure of cap colour but I could change it.

Thanks Greensleeves. Yes you have guessed right about the Corps of Military Police. I realised just after I went offline thar I had forgotten to mention his regiment and have just connected up again :)

Lovely restore GS. I was just about to say that - he does look young. I wonder if that photo was taken at the start of the war when he would have been about 21? So sad.

That is very kind, Janette; I hope I have managed to capture the spirit of the young man who laid down his life for his country.  Here is the same restore but reduced in size so he is easier to see.
