Lawler Family Clare
« on: Friday 25 October 13 05:07 BST (UK) »
Can someone Help please.
My great grandmother Margaret Lawler  was born 24 January 1866 to Patt Lawler and Margaret Hehir
on her birth certificate it said that Patt was a Farmer and she was born in Dangan. Is Dangan a farm?.or an Area in Mayo.
I'd love to find the Marriage of Patt Lawler and Margaret Hehir but the Civil Registration of Catholic Marriage began 1864 and they had a daughter  Mary born before Margaret.
What Catholic Churches are around Dangan

Thank You
Bill

Dangan would be the townland. What's the registration district on the birth certficate? There's a townland called Danganmore in Kildacommoge civil parish (Castlebar Poor Law Union/Registration District).

See Mayo Resources for links to information on townlands, changes in boundaries, etc.

Searching the SeanRuad site with Tulla as the Poor Law Union (Registration District) in Co. Clare there doesn't show anything that close to Dangan.

Bill,
Good news,
Dangan is a townland approximately halfway between Tulla & Quin in Co Clare, Ireland.
Dangan is in the parish of Quin. The nearest RC Church is St Marys, Quin. The Parish Priest is Fr, Michael Collins, Parish Office, Quin, Co Clare, Ireland.
If you go back in time to 1800 there is mention of the Franciscan Abbey also in Quin town and this old building still stands.
If you go back further there is an old church & graveyard called Shankhill very close to Dangan but I have no knowledge of this.
There are 5 people named LALOR on the 1855 Griffiths Valuation land register for Dangan, Quin,Co Clare. Look up the free site www.askaboutireland.ie
You can also see Dangan on current map of Clare. (North/East of Quin)

Was just going to post similar details- apparently Dangan is one of the places that doesn't seem to show up in SeanRuad's database.
