Mrs. Nicholas, William Hammond and Marden in 1808
« on: Friday 25 October 13 12:40 BST (UK) »
When William Hammond (c1756-1808) Miller and Farmer of Marden, Kent, made his Will on October 6, 1808, although he had a freehold farm of his own, he was also renting another farm and the water corn mill in Marden from a Mrs. Nicholas. He had been a Miller in Marden since 1792 at least, but who was she?

In 1798 a "Mr?" HAMMOND was the occupier of "land" owned by Nich's NICHOLAS in Marden (land tax).
