Found family living at this address 1891 census there seems to be a lot of people at this address was wondering if it was maybe poor house any suggestions  ???

It'll be a tenement Rosie. Edinburgh tenements were often very high!

Thanks Skoosh tried to google says it was near the Grassmarket If I am correct is that the building that is like an arch and the family history building is there

Yes, the Scottish Genealogy Society's premises are in Victoria Terrace, which is in the immediate neighbourhood of West Bow.

If you are ever in Edinburgh I recommend a visit. Great restaurants, fab pubs and quirky shops.
Mis-spent quite alot of my student days there  ;D ;D

Been in Edinburgh lot's of times love the city and all it's history was at the Run Rig concert at the castle Had actually been Bow street but not realising until I started checking some census forms
