« on: Monday 12 July 04 13:37 BST (UK) »
This is a post I made a while ago in the Common room, putting it here for posterity...

Boongie Pam:
Hope this is of interest to someone, I've already posted it in Perthshire but other places are mentioned so thought I'd pop it here as well?

My mum is a small scale dealer in old books and she got hold of an old family bible recently.

I've transcribed the  family detailed.

Hi Pam,

For 'Grisby' read Girsby, Lincolnshire.

There is the following baptism on the IGI:

John Ferguson, 15th March 1818, Burgh on Bain, parents James and Uphemia Ferguson.

From the Genuki site:

Burgh on Bain is a village and a parish on the River Bain, seven miles west of Louth and 19 miles northeast of Lincoln. The parish covered about 1,870 acres of the Wold Hills in 1842 and includes the hamlet of Girsby, just north of the village of Burgh on Bain. By 1900, the parish boundaries had shrunk the acreage to about 1,600 acres

Unfortunately no connection to the family - wonder why they ended up in Lincolnshire for a time? (Perhaps there's a connection to the local manor house Girsby Hall?)

I'm a Ferguson
I'm in American, so I don't know where any of those places are
All I know is that my Fergusons came from Scotland.
