Hi Tara, on the birth certs of Patrick and Mary's children, her name is given as Mary Tyrrell formerly Doyle.

I have been going through lists of Patrick Tyrrell records and / or Mary Doyle records to see if perhaps there is a close match but different spelling and can't find anything I would consider a match.

If I find possible matches, where are the 4 Euro certs from. I'm sure the ones I've got from the GRO before were more than that.
Researching: Cronin / Nolan - Gortadrislig, Kerry
Finn/Clifford - Callinafercy and Scort, Kerry
Spillane - Milltown
Also:- Byrne / Tyrrell - Dublin

There's a link somewhere on this site of how to order them through the GRO in Roscommon .... The research cppies are only 4 euro each.

 ;D ;D ;D You're right there, Tara.

About my own research, I often say this: My mother's family is from Dublin and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. My father's family is from Kerry and I struggle to even find the haystack.

It seems that Patrick and Mary were either never married or their marriage was never recorded. Either way, there is no certificate meaning Mary Doyle's line stops as without her father's name finding the right Mary would be nigh n impossible.

However,

As suggested (thanks, jnoone) I contacted Deansgrange Cemetery who provided me with this lovely set of information:

The following persons are buried in grave no. 48  N1  West  at Deansgrange Cemetery
Mary Tyrrell age 66 of 56,Leighlin Rd. Crumlin died 8/5/1949
Patrick Tyrrell age 72 of 56,Leighlin Rd. Crumlin died 23/9/1952
Anastasia Doyle age 60 of 12, Cork St. Dublin  died 16/2/1924
Hannah Mc Cabe age 46 of 12, Cork St.Dublin died 14/2/1937

Now, I look at this information and think that (given the dates / order of death)  there is a strong possibility that Anastasia was Mary's mother and Hannah was her sister.

Hi Nettie,

Well, I THINK I have solved your Doyle mystery !!!

I was convinced that Mary's mother was called Anastasia and given the Deansgrange records it confirms it !

This then I am SURE is Mary Doyle in 1901 with her family !

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Look at the religion of Mary - sure that explains there being no marriage found !

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tara.

It does fit and the religion certainly explains it. I had run 'Anastasia Doyle' through the census searches and didn't find this and thought maybe it had been corrupted to Annie / Ann etc. The spelling shows why neither  name popped up for me.  It also explains the name seemingly coming from nowhere into the Tyrrell/Doyle family (and with the CoI connection, why it was never passed down beyond that).

Thanks again ;D ;D ;D ;D

HUM

This is John and Anastasia in 1911

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Merchants_Quay__part_of_/New_Row_South/76460/

Ok - they are now saying that they are Catholic - also John has changed his county of birth / but I defo think the 1901 census is the correct one - it explains the total lack of any records even though they were in a parish whose records are online (although I know there can be exceptions).

I'm wondering MIGHT Anastasia have been Catholic and hers was also a mixed 'marriage' to John

I found this possible baptism for a brother called Patrick

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/07f9540339029

1911 Census says 9 children born - only 3 living (Mary, Hannah & Anastasia)

But I suppose we are 'limping' towards getting back another generation !!
