Help please reading word on indenture paper
« on: Saturday 02 November 13 21:07 GMT (UK) »
Help please to decipher the word after " to learn his Art, and with him (after the manner of an Apprentice) to serve, from the day of the date ......"

I think it must be a word of meaning such as "hereunder" or "affixed" in reference to the date which appears at the bottom of the document (not shown here). Just can't quite make it out.

Thanks in advance

Anne

If you look at the indenture I posted at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=440923.msg3041326#msg3041326 it is hereof

It is hereof - the date of this here. A very common legal word widely used in legal agreements through to the sixties at least.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
