I want to order my paternal Grandfather's birth certificate,  but I need to know where I have to apply for it and of course how much it is going to cost me.  Can some kind RC pal point me in the right direction etc.

you can get a research copy of the birth entry by downloading a form from www.groireland.ie
 and post to the address on the form - they will e-mail cert - cost is €4 provided you provide reg. details.
This seems to be the entry in the index for Bernard Lohan Claremorris Reg. district Vol 19 page 183

Thank you so much for your post,  which resolves all the problems.  Have downloaded the form and will be posting it off tomorrow.  I have specified the "photocopy" only and asked that they email it to me.    Once again my sincere thanks.
