Jill, could you do me another favour. See if you can find the death of Jone/Joan Marriner in Thatcham between 1680 and 1685. I think she was the 1st wife of Henry Marriner, Jane's father. She was born Jone Yeats/Yeate in Thatcham around 1657 and married Henry on the 26 April 1680 in Wickham, Berks.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

From the Berkshire FHS Burials CD:

buried St Mary's, Thatcham 10 Apr 1685 Joan Marriner, wife of Henry.

Good luck with the Digweeds.

Our 'enry didn't waste much time, he married her sister, Katherine, on 26 October 1685.

I think I may have found the connection between the 2 familys. Not only was Thomas Digweed, born 1627 in Thatcham and married to Abigail Shepperd, the brother of William, he was also the brother of Joane Digweed, born 1626 in Thatcham who married to Henry Marriner, Jane's father.

Hi Jill, it's me again.

Could you please look for a Henry Maryner, poss. born about 1600/1610 in Thatcham. Also for his marriage around 1620/1624 also in Thatcham. He was Jane Marriner's great grandfather.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I haven't yet invested in the Berks FHS Baptisms CD as they've only released Version 1 and it doesn't yet cover the area and periods I'm interested in. I was hoping version 2 might be out for Christmas but if so, they're leaving it a bit late!

As for Henry Marriner's marriage, the only ones I can find are too late and you've probably already got:

Both in Thatcham
2 Feb 1655/56 to Joane Diggwedd
26 Oct 1685 to Katherine Yeats

No sign of an earlier marriage in Berks. Nothing in Hants either.

Thanks, Jill.

From the IGI there are 3 children, Mary bpt. 1624, Henry bpt 1630 (married Joane Digweed, my ancestor) and Joane bpt. 1638, all in Thatcham. Unfortunately no mother's name given. So I just did a guess for Henry's marriage being around 1620/1624.
