I note you have no replies to your query. This isn't one either, but I thought I would notify you that I , too, would be interested in leads to shipwrights as I am searching for a particular one by the name of Thomas Moore, apprenticed probably 1774-1781.  Peter

i see this is your first  post your see what a great site rootschat is and how helpful everyone is WELCOME!

I have 7or 8 shipwrights and Admiralty writers  in my family but have not found any web sites as yet but i am sure one day some one will compile one on shipwrights and similar

Thank you. My difficulty is I am looking for records of an apprenticeship served probably between 1774 and 1781 (if he began at 12 and finished 7 years later), or somewhere between 1772 and 1790 (if he began or finished later).
