NSW Marriages has: " 1885, BORGESS, WILLIAM; LONG, KATE; at SYDNEY"
Actually it's William Burgess marrying Catherine nee Punch, widow. But is he my missing lad, born 1858 in New Zealand? Catherine Punch is an ancestress on several Mundia trees and similar, with links going back, and none of these have an origin for William Burgess, husband Two. Not ruling him out doesn't rule him in.
He dies 1919, and is buried at Rookwood. (No inconvenient brothers or whatever in the funeral notice.) He may be
NSW Deaths: 21860/1919; BURGESS WILLIAM H; son of WILLIAM, no mother, at HURSTVILLE
Actually, his parents are Richard (Master Mariner) and Winifred nee Callaghan (Earl Grey Famine Orphan), but a son or daughter providing information might not have been clear on that. His age is given as 63, and would be 61.
Advice please: Are there likely to be anything useful re parents on the marriage certificate? Should I cross fingers and pay for the death certificate and wait four weeks to see what I get? Or, worst case, can you rule this man out, as being born in Aus or the UK or somewhere?
Many thanks
