Hi!
Thanks for the reply - much appreciated! The only thing what confuses me is that if William Brown married Margaret Tate in 1855 and Emma Tate was born 1856 (?) why was her surname not Brown?

Do you think Margaret Tate could have had Emma before marriage, born 1853? :)

Emma Tate was born 1856 (?)

Are you calculating this from her age on the 1861 census? If so, remember that the age given is that at her last birthday, so she could well have been born in 1855.

Emily Tate born 1855, as keyboard suggests, would be well worth considering.

Do you think Margaret Tate could have had Emma before marriage, born 1853? :)

What makes you think she might have been born in 1853?

Hi!
No I missed that! Thanks for pointing that out. The reason I had 1853 is that Emma Fenwick (nee Tate) was registered as being 39 when she died in 1893? :)

Ages on death certificates could be very unreliable. They depended on the informant knowing the persons correct age, which very often they didn't!

:) The problem I am having is just who is the Margaret Tate shown as a Minor at marriage 1855?!
You might need that marriage certificate?
