Kirklinton photo album

Hi there,

I currently own a photo album containing pictures of many families in the Kirklinton area. These include Brows, Porters, Parkers, Bells, Daltons as well as many unlabelled.

I believe that many of these people are related and am in the process of linking them together, however, I am stuck on a few points. The very first picture in the album is 'Annie Brow' the photographer is J. Huff and son, Penrith and Appleby. The other labelled photo of Annie (in which she looks younger, but I am not certain) was taken by H. Andrews of Rembrandt Art Studio, Devonshire Buildings, Lowther Street, Carlisle. Based on my very limited knowledge, I think this is the 1880's?

On another photo, is labelled Mrs Brow, Lodge Hill, Kirklinton 'for Mrs Porter, The Gill, Blackford' however, this lady looks much older than Annie.

I have found a Brow family living at Lodge Hill but with no mention of Annie. Could anyone help please.

On another note, if anyone has links with these families, and wishes to see photos, or have the album once I'm finished, please do let me know

On the 1881 census the Brow`s of Lodge Hill have a daughter Jannet Ann Brow aged 16.  She marries a William Dalton in 1894.  On subsequent census she is listed as Annie although she seems to be coy on her age - 34 and 41  .  So she may have always been known as Annie.

The Annie that you are looking for could well be Hannah living at Lodge Hill.

David Brow married Jennet Coulthard in 1852.  John Porter married Mary Coulthard in 1868.   They can be found living at Gill Farm, Blackford in later census.  Mary Coulthard was aged 5 on the 1851 census and living with her grandparents.  I suspect that in 1861 she is Mary Brow  aged 14, daughter, living with David and Jennet.

This is Mr Muller. The photo is labelled as April 1896 Hydon End, Hambledon, Guildford Surrey. I cannot see how he can possibly link into this family? Any ideas?

Hiya, thanks for your advice re the ipad Mo, unfortunately I still can't do it! When I am reunited with my laptop I'll try again.

So from your post earlier, it seems David coulthard married Jannet Beaty. Their children were Margaret, David, Jane, Jannet (who I think is the one who became a Brow) and Catherine.

The grandchildren are John, Mary, George, Mary (who I think became a Porter)and Sarah, however I cannot find their parents.

Would you agree that Jannet Brow is therefore Mary Porters Aunt?
