oh yes it is a transcript, but the address is meaningless don't you think? this is what it says:

Name:   Charles McGrath          Date of Birth:
                                               Date of Baptism:   09-Apr-1836
Address:   L Cove                  Parish/District:   DUNGANNON
Gender:    Unknown                  County   TYRONE

Father:   Charles McGrath          Mother:   Alice Grimes
Occupation:

Sponsor 1 /Informant 1:   Peter    Sponsor 2 /Informant 2:   Ann Grimes

L Cove ?? What do you think could it mean?

Here's a searchable link to St. Mary and St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Coalisland, Co. Tyrone

http://www.discovereverafter.com/search/

  and Clonoe

http://www.irishgraveyards.ie/search.php?yardid=224&lastname=mcgrath&firstname=&address=&county=&month=&year=
Click on the drop down menu in graveyards

A search in geograph will also show the geographical situation of the photos of Coalisland

I wonder could L Cove be Lower Coagh (roughly pronounced Co-h)

Hi familyroutes, great to hear from you .. and thank you for your repy ... I keep having these sureal moments .. I have just had a reply from the webiste that I found the offending "L Cove" tanscription  and they say that it is in fact Lower Corr .. which puts me straight back into the parish of Clonoe which, at least, helps to concentrate my searches in the same parish of Clonoe but, where in the parish of Clonoe? sadly, I cannot make a connection to my Charles c1856/57 with his parents, Daniel McGrath & Sarah/Sara  ?????  There is a couple s Daniel McGrath & Sarah/Sara O'Neil in Aughamulan who had x4 other children between 1842 - 1857 in the parish records but, sadly no Charles ... it may be they were either married in another parish or that Charles' birth simply was never registered for whatever reason, the last being Daniel in 1857 but without a baptism record there is now no way of knowing who his family were ... very sad if this is the end of the road for me after all these years of searching.  Whichever way I look at it, there weren't many Daniel McGrath's in Tryone as farmers when Charles was approx 8/9yrs around 1864 (Griffiths Valuation records) so there must be some reference to him in the Church records, somewhere  ... surely??  Anything at all may help... many thanks VB

Yes you're right about Lower Corr...That must be what I was thinking of because I can't find Lower Coagh. Some townlands around Coalisland have Upper and Lower attached to them...Lower Annagher for example.

Here's a burial in Clonoe of an O'Neill from Lower Corr ...so you're in the right area!

Thank you so much for all your help.  The Charles I am looking for is born to Daniel and a Sara/Sarah who's birth record I cannot find.  He was married in Belfast in 1881 and gave his parents details as above, father farmer and deceased, sadly I cannot find any connection to any of these McGrath's as I cannt find his baptism record and according to Clonoe PPriest there isn't one?  but I am certain he is the son of Daniel & Sarah O'Neill from Aughamullan.  Until I can make this connection I cannot find which of these other McGrath's he may be related to.  There were othe r Chrles McGrath's baptised in Clone Parish Church so this is where I am taking the family connection from.  any help is really appreciated as I am simply going round in circles!

thank you all with this, its got so, that I can't sleep at night trying to find the link that I think I must have missed somewhere along the way

The Valuation Revision books from PRONI come with the notation on the page "© Crown Copyright 2007 | Privacy Statement | Terms & Conditions" so that you are only allowed to post a small portion for deciphering purposes or better still a link to the details.
