I'd be interested in the answer to that question - I believe my great-grandmother Susan Doherty (who married John 'Owens' Doherty of Tullydish) was the sister of Mary Doherty of Meenkeerragh who married Henry Doherty. A lot of DNA matches strongly suggest this. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

I hope Magh Itha will reply as it was a theory that was suggested and it would really resolve a lot of DNA matches for a few people :)

Henry Doherty that married Mary Meekeeragh is my second great grant uncle. My 2nd great grandmother was his sister Nancy Doherty that married Charles Bradley.

I have your Susan on my tree as Mary's sister as well. Do you know of any other siblings?

Yes, me too! I don't know of any other siblings - that's why I was interested in the Patrick you mentioned. I didn't know about Nancy - now I can add her to my tree too. Thank you.

There is another theory and I wonder what you think about it.

That John Doherty "Owens" from Tullydish was brother to Cornelius Doherty "Nahor" from Tullydish.

I haven't really looked into it a yet as I'm still working out the Dohertys of Meenkeragh :)

Yes, I've been looking at this theory too - they're definitely related but maybe cousins rather than brothers, according to my DNA results. We should confer - are you on a site where we can private message?
